Our Groups & Activities

BoogieTanz

This co-ed adult dance group is part of the San Diego German American Societies and welcomes participants of all experience levels. Weekly sessions introduce classic partner dances such as Waltz and Polka, while additional practices focus on learning choreographed routines for seasonal performances and community events. The choreography varies throughout the year, keeping activities fresh and engaging. Guests are welcome to join at any time, and those who enjoy performing have opportunities to take part in multiple celebrations.

Damenkreis

This welcoming German speaking women’s circle meets regularly for conversation, community, and shared activities. Monthly gatherings include a potluck style lunch, often followed by games or guest presentations, offering a relaxed way to practice the language and connect with others. A summer beach picnic adds a seasonal highlight, while a dedicated crafting group meets twice a month to create handmade items for the annual holiday market.

Germania Blaskapelle

This traditional brass band performs music typical of German, Austrian, and Swiss village ensembles, with a repertoire rooted in the Oktoberfest style. Regular rehearsals welcome visiting guests, and musicians have opportunities to perform at club concerts, community festivals, and regional cultural events throughout the year. The group seeks additional players who can read music and bring their own instruments, while volunteers can also assist with events, organization, and fundraising activities that support the ensemble’s performances.

German Theater Group

This volunteer theater group is dedicated to bringing German language stage productions to San Diego and surrounding communities. Participants collaborate on performances that have become part of the club’s cultural events, contributing creativity both on and off stage. Adults who speak German are welcome to join, regardless of prior acting experience, and can explore performance, stage work, and other creative roles while helping present theater rooted in German speaking culture.

German Karneval Group

This group celebrates the traditional Karneval season with lively cultural events inspired by Cologne customs. Planning takes place year round, giving members opportunities to participate as dancers, performers, or part of the ceremonial court. Activities include themed celebrations, community performances, and travel to regional gatherings with other German cultural clubs. Regular meetings support preparation and organization, while the focus remains on friendship, music, dance, costumes, and shared festive traditions.

Schützenverein

This shooting sports group focuses on 10 meter Olympic style air rifle marksmanship in a friendly, social environment. Members practice regularly and host local competitions, while also traveling to regional clubs for multi day tournaments and community gatherings. Weekly open range evenings welcome both participants and visitors, combining skill building with a relaxed club atmosphere and opportunities to connect with others who share an interest in precision shooting and tradition.
