1. El Cajon Oktoberfest 2026

The most authentic German Oktoberfest

The strongest choice for an authentic German experience. The two-weekend celebration features German bands, traditional folk dancing, bratwurst, ox-on-the-spit, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, European pastries, imported beer, stein-holding contests, vendors, raffles and a children’s area. One of the featured bands travels from Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

2. La Mesa Oktoberfest

The largest and most varied overall festival
A large 3-day street festival with three biergartens, German and international food, live bands, DJs, games, dachshund races, children’s activities, a Ferris wheel, a pumpkin patch and an artisan market. General festival admission is free; admission to the biergartens and certain VIP experiences costs extra. The La Mesa Boulevard trolley station is within walking distance.

3. Encinitas Oktoberfest & Artisan Faire

Families, shopping and a relaxed daytime celebration

4. Ocean Beach Oktoberfest

Beachfront atmosphere, live music and nightlife

The least traditionally German of the major festivals, but probably the most energetic. The 25th-anniversary edition will feature expanded beer gardens, live bands, DJs, contests, vendors and a special Y2K theme. Its defining attraction is the location directly beside the Pacific Ocean.

5. Mission Hills Oktoberfest

A smaller community and school-benefit event

A four-hour neighborhood celebration with German food, craft beer, wine, live music, vendors, lawn games, family activities and dachshund races. All proceeds benefit the Grant TK-8 Community Foundation. It offers a more intimate experience than the large La Mesa, El Cajon and Ocean Beach festivals.

6. Pacific Beach Oktoberfest Bar Crawl

Bar-hopping and Pacific Beach nightlife

This is a commercial Oktoberfest-themed bar crawl rather than a traditional German cultural festival. The event begins at 710 Beach Club and includes participating bars and nightlife venues around Pacific Beach. It is better suited to groups seeking a party than to families or visitors looking for German traditions.

7. East Village Oktoberfest

The East Village Association confirms that its Oktoberfest will return to Quartyard in 2026, but the date and hours have not yet been announced. The event normally presents an urban seated beer-hall experience rather than a large street fair.
