About San Diego Germans

Professional German Network & Meetup in San Diego, CA

SD Germans as a German-Speaking professional network in San Diego is one of the oldest German Stammtisch Meetups since 2001 in San Diego, California. We keep the original idea of the Meetup has been that Germans in San Diego can come together to help each other out in terms of sharing their experiences, knowledge, and takeaways from their day-to-day life in San Diego, California and the U.S.

We are most likely the biggest German-speaking community up-do date, and holding at the moment over 855 members as of 2026 in our mailing list from which around we count 200 active members regularly coming to our meetups.

The usual meetup groups are usually around 10-30 people, depending on the time of year and the mood of people, since we don’t have any memberships nor RSVP it’s completely up to everywhere to show up. To get some impressions, visit our gallery.

SD Germans is a nonprofit meetup group with no commercial or profit-driven intentions.

Why Come To Us?

There are several reasons for people to come to the meeting. The main reason would be to meet new people or meet the ones they already know from the meeting. The meeting is not accompanied by events or presentations, it is self-regulated and free of charge.

The atmosphere is rather relaxed where we eat, drink, talk, and have a good time together.

The goal of the meeting is to have a pleasant get-together where friendships and business contacts can form.

Who Are Our Guests?

Around 90% of our meetup guests grew up in Germany, but live in South California. Some of our guests are also from Switzerland and Austria.

However, everyone is welcome regardless of their background. For example, we host people who have lived in Germany, worked with German companies, or are simply interested in connecting with the German community.

Guests sometimes bring spouses who do not speak German, and they are always welcome. In short, everyone is welcome.

There is no formal set of rules for the Meetup. But we see ourselves as a professional network, meaning the focus is less on festive activities and more on meaningful conversations, including business topics and the exchange of practical, useful insights.
